After the '3 step' server configuration your GroupCalendars are ready for use, just one click away for the Outlook users who participate in the GroupCalendars without the need for them to do anything other than what they normally do, keeping their personal schedules up to date. The Exchange Server takes care of updating the GroupCalendars.

Sharing your Outlook calendar with Exchange Server used to be a matter of all or nothing. You give access to your calendar or you don't. When others have access to your Outlook calendar they can see your calendar items, all of them! Exchange GroupCalendar however allows for simple but effective rules and formatting. You can now automatically publish to a central team calendar what others need to know and keep to yourself what they don't need to know.

We use it as an ER Call schedule. Our providers need to know when they are on call and also who is on call at any given time and this gives us the freedom to manage one calendar but have that calendar be seen by users all over. We have just started using iPhones which sync with our Outlook personal calendars and because the Group Calendar items show in the personal calendars we have found the perfect solution for our ER schedule.

From personal calendar to Public folder calendar.
You can have a large number of public Group Calendars and users can be a member of one to all of them.

Every group calendar can have its own set of rules. The rules will decide if the item that a member created in his/her personal calendar will be visible at all in that group calendar. The rules also govern the item formatting.

Color of the item, privacy aspects, categories and words in the subject or body.. everything is configurable.
User permissions can be set in MS Outlook® or Exchange system manager on the public folder. Nothing is needed on the workstation but MS Outlook® (or owa/pda/entourage). No configuration or installation on the client pc needed.

From Public folder calendar to personal calendar!
Use MS Outlook to create new items for all or selected members in the GroupCalendar public folder.

Have those centrally created items replicate into the personal calendars of the group members instantly.

Or use the GridView tool for better overview and easy scheduling of items for other users without the need to set delegate permissions everywhere.

Why Exchange GroupCalendar?
