Text Formatter Plus Description

Formats your emails, ezines and newsletters

Text Formatter Plus formats email and newsletter/ezine text to your specified line length. You can right and/or left indent text easily, set a left margin and check that the web addresses you've used are correct and functioning. It allows you to save pieces of text you use regularly and then easily insert them when required. When you want to edit someone's else's article that has already been formatted with hard returns, the program will strip the hard returns so that you can start work on the text immediately without wasting time.

Text Formatter Plus - Outlook Emails Before and After

Before
All versions of Microsoft Outlook after the 2002 version strip out all hard returns at the end of sentences as a default setting. So your formatting to keep the line length to 60 or 65 characters is removed. That means your ezine will have text running from one side of the window to the other, thereby making it harder to read.

(Microsoft's explanation about this can be found here. It is possible to stop the stripping of hard returns - go to Tools>Options>Preferences tab>Email Options button and untick the 'Remove extra line breaks in plain text messages' box. However because the removal of hard returns is a default setting, most people will still have it functioning.)

After
The solution is to make sure that each line (apart from a line ending a paragraph) has 3 extra spaces added to it. When this happens, Outlook is programmed not to strip out the hard returns at the end of each line and so keeps your line length formatting. Text Formatter Plus can add these 3 extra spaces automatically.
