My Money Description

A high quality personal financial software

My Money is a high quality personal financial software written from ground up to work with online bank statements. Simply download your transactions from bank web site and they are automatically entered into electronic register.

By bringing all of your important financial information together in one place, My Money helps you more efficiently organize your financial data, simplify taxes and grow your net worth.

My Money is designed to provide our customers with maximum choice. Some components are summarized below:

Double-Entry and Single-Entry accounting support
Business accounting uses Double-Entry method where every transaction is a debit in one account and credit in another. If you don't need that level of detail you can simply use Single-Entry accounting, where transactions are recorded against payees and categories, not accounts.
My Money supports both accounting methods out of the box.

Online connectivity
My Money is designed to work with online bank statements. If your bank is offering online banking you can setup My Money to download bank data directly into My Money database. You also can import your bank statements from banks websites, if direct connection is not available. We try to give our customers maximum flexibility by remaining agnostic to banks, financial institutions, data vendors, and third party technology vendors alike.

Powerful reporting and analysis
The real value of a database is not collecting your financial data, but in pulling your data out for analysis and projection. With over 30+ built-in reports and visualizations, My Money provides historical, current, and predictive views and analysis of your finances. My Money comes integrated with industry standard JasperReports so it is possible to design completely custom reports using tools such as iReport or simply export your reports into PDF, Open Document or Microsoft Excel formats for further analysis.

Open Technologies
My Money is built on Open Source technologies. While we do not expect every user to become a programmer, we do not want any ceiling imposed on those who want to take a look under the hood. Our database design "blue prints" are freely available on our wiki, you are welcome to connect to the database from external programs, integrate with desktop applications or modify it in any way you see fit.

Windows, Mac and Linux
My Money is a true cross-platform application, we support all major operating systems today and plan on continuing to do so in the future.

Low cost of ownership
My Money doesn't require an expensive upgrade every year, we never "retire" or "sunset" product features just because someone is using an earlier version. In fact we consider these practices unethical.
Catalina OFX Engine

Catalina is our next generation OFX (Open Financial Exchange) Engine. It is a very high throughput, modern financial engine that covers a wide spectrum of financial data, with widely differing computational needs. Catalina handles with ease:

* Legacy OFX data
* New OFX standard
* Quicken Interchange Format (QIF)
* Microsoft Money Formats

All of My Moneys import/export capabilites are supplied by Catalina. We distribute it as a part of My Money, however a standalone edition is also available. Please contact us if you are interested in including it in your financial software solution.

My Money Release Schedule
How and when new MyMoney versions are released:

Our strategy is to put out releases on a short predictable cycle, generally once a month. We don't believe that a release needs to be a major event, once we have accumulated enough fixes or additions to functionality we cut the release and ship to distribution.

We keep detailed logs of the builds at in Release Notes and our download page is always pointing to the latest version of the software.

While not very common, this approach to developing software is very similar to traditional Japanese manufacturing process known as Kaizen. Continuous improvement is an ongoing effort to improve products, services or processes. These efforts seek "incremental" improvement over time without a need for a "breakthrough" improvement all at once.
