Capture View Description

Screen Capture of anything and everything on your PC screen

Screen Capture desktops, custom or default regions, running apps whether shown, partially shown, completely hidden, even minimized. Screen Capture virtual screens, even those hard to capture menus, pop-ups, and pull downs. Screen Capture images in grayscale or color. All captures are automatically saved as well as sent to the clipboard for immediate use in other applications.

Capture View has a simple, easy-to-use and intuitive interface. Select your capture method, click the capture button. It is that simple! An additional capture button is located on the system tray allowing you to take snap shots even when Capture View is not shown. You can even use a keyboard hot key Alt+Q to take captures and snapshots. Check out the timer delay! If you need to capture a contextual menu or other difficult item, simply set the timer delay, click the capture button, go to the application that has the menu or item you wish to capture and bring it up. Then you wait. After the designated delay, Capture View will automatically take a snap shot. Choose from numerous image formats: png, bmp, jpg, tiff, gif.

Capture View has several basic imaging tools: the Crop Tool, Grayscale Conversion, Resize Tool, Watermark Text Tool, and Border Tool. Do you need more advanced editing? Just double click the capture image and it will open in your default image editor. Capture View has several image display tools: the Slide Show Tool/Photo Browser, Wallpaper Tool, and the handy slide strip. Capture View includes a powerful Batch Processing Tool for automatically resizing and watermarking entire folders with one click of the mouse.

Screen Capture - Why use it

Tired of the print screen button? Everybody is! Now there is something better. Capture, edit, display, manage and share high quality screen captures using Capture View. You can use a screen capture to organize images, speed up the creation of presentations, web pages, emails instructional documents, brochures, catalogs, repair manuals, engineering documents. You can use it to improve communications, teach, even answer questions. You can use it to perform basic image editing, view slide show presentations, browse photos, and much more. The list goes on and on! Customers are finding new ways to use it every day. Do you have an idea or vision that you need to communicate but can't find the words to do it justice? Take a screen capture, add some text, paste it into an email, and send it on its way. It's that easy! Stop using the old print screen button and start using the only screen capture program you will ever need.

Screen Capture - Description

Capture View is a unique software program. The main window is transparent. It is like looking through a camera lens. Anything displayed on your computer screen, whether it be an application window, document, image or icon, can be captured! When the screen capture button is selected, a snap shot or capture will be taken similar to the way a camera would work. All screen captures, in addition to be automatically saved, are automatically copied to your computers "clipboard" and made available to all your applications for immediate use.

Screen Capture - Capture Button Capture View

The screen capture button is similar to a camera's button. When selected, a snap shot or capture will be taken using the selected method. The screen capture button can be set to take snap shotes using any of several available methods. Two useful ways of taking captures is through the use of the timer function and the keyboard hot key Alt+Q.

Active Application: When the screen capture button is set to Active Application a capture will be made of whatever application has focus. This capture method can only be taken through the use of the keyboard hot key Alt+Q

Viewing Window Method: all screen captures will be of whatever is currently visible in the transparent area of the main window.

Desktop Method: all screen captures will be of the entire desktop excluding the taskbar.

Screen Method: all screen captures will be of whatever is viewable on your computer screen including the taskbar.

Application Method: all screen captures will be of the selected application, even if it is partially displayed or completely minimized.

Virtual Desktop Method: if a second monitor is attached, all screen captures will be of screen of the second monitor.

Default Window Method: all screen captures will be of whatever is currently viewable in the users predifined region of the desktop.

Directory Capture: When the Directory option is selected a screen capture will be made of the selected folder or directory. All the contents will be copied as a list to the clipboard and made available to other applications.

Gray Scale Feature: all screen captures will be made in gray scale using the selected method.

Timer Delay Feature: all screen captures, regardless of method, will be taken on a timer delay. Useful for menus, pop-ups and pull downs.

Alt+Q Hot Key: A keyboard hot key (Alt+Q) can be used to take screen captures without the need for Capture View to be visible. When selected, a screenshot is made using the currently selected capture method and automatically save to the clipboard as well as to Capture Views default folder and slide strip.

Screen Capture - File Menu

All screen capture images are automatically copied to your computers clipboard. Additionally, you can set Capture View up to automatically save each capture to an auto-save folder of your choice using an image format of your choice. Supported image formats include jpg, bmp, png, gif, tiff, icon, and wmf. All screen captures are automatically sent to the slide strip.

Save As: in addition to the auto-save folders, you can save a copy of the current capture to any folder of your choosing.

Print/Print Preview: all captures can be sent directly to the default printer.

Always on Top: You can set Capture View to be the top most window on your desktop. This is the default setting.

Set Default Window: when selected will store the current position and size of Capture Views window. You can then use the "Restore Window" button (discussed later) to automatically reposition and resize Capture View to this stored default. Also, if you use the Defautl Window method when taking a snap shot, this is the region that will be captured.

Settings: The settings menu item will bring up a comprehensive user settings panel where you can customize many of Capture View's features.

Any screen capture currently displayed in the main window will be removed leaving just the transparent window.

The thumbs button will activate or deactivate the slide strip (shown below docked to the left of Capture Views w transparent window). All images are automatically saved and can be conveniently accessed at any time through the slide strip.

All screen captures can be renamed on the fly using the rename feature located on the slide strip.

Screen Capture - Resize

There are two options for repositioning and resizing Capture View's main window while displaying images. The first option will reposition and resize Capture View to the original image capture position and size. The second option will reposition and resize Capture View to a predefined window position and size.

Screen Capture - Viewing Window

There are two options for the main viewing window. The first is a best fit image viewing. With this option the screen capture will be scaled down to fit Capture View's main window. If the image is smaller than the main window, then the viewing image will be presented at a 1:1 scale. The second option is a 1:1 scale. With this option the screen capture will always be presented at a 1:1 scale. If the image is larger than the main window, then scroll bars will be added so that you can navigate the image.

Screen Capture - Autosave Capture View

When a capture is made, Capture View will automatically save the image to the default folder using the default image type. If the temp folder is selected (and this is the default) all images will be saved to this folder, but on exiting or closing Capture View all images in the temp folder will be deleted. If you want to automatically and permanently save your screen capture you must select a default folder other than temp. You can create any number of default image folders using the "MyDocuments\Capture View\Resources" folder. Currently, there is no option to choose folders outside of the one. The "Folder Name" that you input in the window is the name of the folder not the path and will be created in the "Resources" folder mentioned above.

Default Drop Down Boxes: you can easily select a new image folder on the fly as well as the image type. There are a total of seven image types currently supported. The compression drop down box value is only used if the selected image type is a JPG
