A useful EXIF information viewer and editor utility |

Generally, you frequently work on ‘Main view/edit’ place, for each opened photo, the list panel of ‘Exif info’, ‘GPS info’, ‘Meta info’, ‘Comment’ is always appeared regardless of actually existing that info. If any photos have more rich info like maker-note, there will automatically add ‘Maker note’ list panel for the photos.
As you saw, the opened photos is laying out ‘Photo list’ panel as thumbnails. When you left clicking on the thumbnail of the photo, the photo has been selected and the related info(Exif info, GPS info, Meta info, Comment, Maker-note) has been refreshed and related to the selected photo.
Here, we demonstrate how to update/add/delete some tags for the first photo, all operations is in the ‘Exif info’ list panel.
1. we update the date time of original data generation for the first photo:
Clicking the related item on ‘Exif info’ list panel, A date time control shows up, choosing the updating date time as you want, please note that ‘Modified’ column is automatically changed to a pencil flag that means the tag was modified.
Tips: For showing the related control of the editing item, you can click any columns except for first column, the first column is only for indicating ‘Add/Delete’(see below).
2. In additional, we want to change the focal length for the first photo:
An editor of floating number shows up, you can manually input value in that, or clicking spin button that’s more effective.
3. Adds the non existing tag – Light source :
A combobox shows up, we choose ‘Daylight’ for the photo, please note that ‘Add/Delete’ column also is automatically shifted to
4. Deletes the existing tag – Flash , you only need to click the ‘Add/Delete’ column changing to .
After this, clicking ‘File > Save’ to save the changes with the first photo. A better action is:
Using ‘File > Save As’ instead of ‘File > Save’, this will safely save a duplicate for the first photo, then also save that changes as we done.
Tips: We don’t guarantee that any photo and its tags modified can be successfully saved directly, sometimes you may encountered some exceptions that causes the losing of the original photo.
Searching photos
On you hard-drive, you have stored many photos which’s from different camera or model, Fatally, you never arranged or organized them by camera or model. Don’t worry about this, CookExif helps you to do it! Let’s turn on ‘Search’ panel:
The ‘Nikon’ is as keyword of camera to be searched.
Obviously, we need to look for matching photos which’s from the ‘Nikon’ camera.
In ‘Path’ group, we chose starting place where is from the certain directory on hard-drive. Clicking on ‘Find’ button, a ‘Search’ progress dialog shows up, Finally, all matching results has been put in the thumbnails panel at right side. |
