Feed Writer is the most powerful tool for professionally creating and maintaining editorial RSS news feeds and podcasts. It supports all common feed formats such as RSS 0.91, RSS 0.92, RSS 2.0, Atom and offers a lot of unique productivity features.

Feed creation and editing features:

Read and write RSS feeds (RSS 2.0, RSS 0.91, RSS 0.92, Atom and Podcasts)
Feed Writer supports all common feed formats. Additionally you can convert feeds between various formats with one click.

Comfortable management of feed meta data
Feed Writer gives you easy access to all relevant meta data fields and can highlight mandatory fields. This helps you to create fully standards-compliant feeds.

WSYIWYG HTML and text-only editor for feed items
Feed items can be either edited in a plain-text editor or by using the integrated WYSIWYG (What you see is what you get) editor that creates basic HTML formatting without requiring knowledge about the tags.

Source code editor (edit XML directly) with syntax highlighting
Feeds can also be edited in XML source code mode. This is very helpful for professional users and developers that want to have full control over the XML source code of the feed.

Support for enclosures / attachments
Feed Writer has built-in features for working with enclosures in a comfortable way. An integrated unit converter helps you to correctly specify the file size of the attachment in the feed meta data.

Support for creating Podcasts (iTunes)
Feed Writer is fully capable of creating iTunes compatible Podcasting feeds. Just supply your episodes as MP3 files and Feed Writer does the rest for you. All iTunes-specific extensions to the RSS standard are supported.

Support for video feeds
Similiar to audio podcasts you can also create video podcasts by attaching video files to your feed items.

Support for photo/picture feeds
By attaching photos or pictures to your feed items, you can easily create photo feeds with Feed Writer.

Project management and multi feed support:

Integrated project management (manages feeds and enclosures)
The built-in project management helps you to create multiple feeds with ease and to manage enclosures in a comfortable way. Simply select the files from your hard disc and they are automatically added to your feed(s).

MDI interface (open multiple feeds at the same time)
Feed Writer has a MDI (multi document interface) which allows you to work with multiple feeds at the same time. Each feed can be accessed by clicking on the appropriate tab in the bar with the currently opened feeds.

Copy feed items between opened feeds
Feed items can be copied between open feeds with a single click. This is very helpful when you create your own feed based on items from other feeds.

Bookmark features for frequently used feeds
Frequently used feeds (either online or offline) can be bookmarked by Feed Writer. This gives you quick access to the feeds you work most frequently with.

Support for different encodings and date/time formats:

UTF-8 support for feeds with non-Latin characters
Feed Writer supports UTF-8 character encoding which gives you the ability to use virtually any language for your feeds (also languages with non-Latin characters such as Russian, Chinese or Arabic).

Timestamps can be given in Universal Time (UT) or relative to the local time zone
Feed Writer supports both absolute and relative time stamps for feeds and feed items.

Supports of many common Internet date and time formats
Many common Internet date/time formats such as RFC822 or ISO 8601 are well supported by Feed Writer.

Automatic update of timestamps upon saving a feed
Timestamps which represent the last update of a feed can be automatically updated when you save a feed.

Integrated Help and Validation features:

Feed preview feature (with Internet Explorer 7,8,9 / Firefox or using an XSLT template)
Feeds can be previewed either with an RSS compatible Web browser or by applying an XSLT style sheet.

Online feed validation using the official W3C Web service
Feed Writer has a built-in interface for accessing the official W3C validation Web service for feeds. This helps you to check with only one click whether your feed complies with the official standards.

Access to official RSS specifications
The help menu of Feed Writer provides Web links to the documents that define the official standards for common feed formats such as RSS 2.x.

Validation of hyperlinks and Web resources
Any fields that contain hyperlinks or URLs can be checked or opened in an external browser. This makes it very easy to find dead links in your feed.

Open existing feeds from local drives, the Web (read-only) or via FTP/SFTP
Feed Writer offers various ways to access any existing feeds, either online or offline.

Automatic upload of feeds and enclosures via FTP/SFTP
When using the project management feature, not only feed files but also any enclosures can automatically be uploaded to the Web server. Both FTP and SecureFTP (SCP) protocols are supported.
