Fox Magic Audio Recorder Description

Records sound as MP3, WAV files from various audio devices

Fox Magic Audio Recorder records sound as MP3, WAV files. It is capable to use various audio devices/audio inputs for recording. You can generate file names automatically or manually, play the recorded files in the internal audio player, start/stop the recording on timer event, adjust audio setting, adjust the audio volume, and more. Software is very easy to use and learn.
Works on Windows Vista/XP/2003/2000/Me/98.

Options

* File - Next file name. Dialog's title displays the last recorded file name.
* Browse - Click this button to set the file name.
* Format - Select MP3 or WAV.
* Add sequential numbers - Check it to add sequential numbers to the file name.
* Reset - Click this button to reset the number counter (numbers will start with 1).
* + - Click this button to increment the number counter.
* Device - Select the audio device to capture from (see comments below).
* Input - Select the audio input to capture from (see comments below).
* Audio - Click this button to adjust audio settings.
* Timer - Click this button to set a start/stop time.
* Volume - Drag the slider to adjust the audio volume.
* Iconize - Check it to minimize a program to the system tray.
* Overwrite prompt - Check it to display overwrite prompt on start.
* Start/Stop - Click this button to start/stop the recording.
* Play - Click this button to pause the recording.
* Play - Click this button to show the internal audio player.
Audio Settings

Constant Bit Rate (CBR) encoding means that the rate at which a codec's output data should be consumed is constant.

Variable Bit Rate (VBR) is a term that relates to the bitrate used in sound or video encoding. As opposed to constant bitrate (CBR), VBR files vary the amount of output data per time segment. VBR allows a higher bitrate (and therefore more storage space) to be allocated to the more complex segments of media files while less space is allocated to less complex segments.

The advantages of VBR are that it produces a better quality-to-space ratio compared to a CBR file of the same size.

The disadvantages are that it may take more time to encode, as the process is more complex, and that some hardware might not be compatible with VBR files (for example, some MP3 players).

* Bits Per Sample - Set higher value for better quality, set lower value to reduce a file size.
* Samples Per Second - Set higher value for better quality, set lower value to reduce a file size.
* Mono/Stereo - Number of channels.
* Constant Bit Rate (Kbit/s) - Set higher value for better quality, set lower value to reduce a file size.
* Min Bit Rate - Minimum Bit Rate (Variable Bit Rate Encoding).
* Max Bit Rate - Maximum Bit Rate (Variable Bit Rate Encoding).
* VBR Quality - Quality of Variable Bit Rate Encoding.
* Encoding Quality - Move the slider to change the encoding quality.

Audio Player

Click the Play button to play the last recorded audio file. You can also play all audio file in the current directory. Double click a file in the list to play it.
