Heatmap Studio Description

small application designed to generate heatmaps based on data for the purpose of visualizing data

Basic Instuctions

Data Set Restrictions
o Data sets must be 2 or 3 columns comma seperated, formatting is
+ “2 column: X coordinate (or latitude), Y coordinate (or longitude) - example: 23,24″
+ “3 Column: X coordinate (or latitude), Y coordinate (or longitude) - example: 23, 24, 123″

Heatmap Options
o Color Spectrum Buttons: The 5 color buttons control the heatmap coloring spectrum. Click a button to display the color picker, once selected that section of the spectrum will change to your chosen color. This is totally customizable so get creative with your heatmap coloring!
o Heatmap Opacity: This slider controls how transparent the background of the heatmap will be on the base image. The higher the value the blacker and darker the background.
o Blob Size: This slider controls how large the individual heatmap points are drawn. More detailed maps would be best to use the “Small” setting
o Decay: The decay function controls how much the blob size or draw size of the heatmap is blended outward. Caution: this setting adds more processing time the more passes you do.
o Heatmap Threshold: This slider controls at which point in your data range is considered “high”. For instance if you have a high data range of 100 but your want data between 75 and 100 to show up as the highest you would set the threshold to +75

Standard Heatmap Type
o Reuirements:
+ A base Image (Bitmap, JPeg, Png, gif)
+ A 2 or 3 column data set

Start by loading the base image. Once loaded move onto the next section to load the dataset. Once you load the data set you can set a location to save the generated heatmap. After all Data controls sections are filled in the Generate Heatmap button will become enabled. Click the generate heatmap button to create the heatmap. You can tweak the heatmap options and regenrate at your will!

Application Monitoring Heatmap Type

* Requirements
o �
+ A running application with a viewable window

This heatmap type allows you to track mouse movements on any viewable application. An example use of this might be to track your mouse movemtns in a game to see where you spent most time on the games interface. To use this heatmap type simply select the application you wish to monitor from the list, set the monitoring interval (in milliseconds), and click start. When the application is in focus and your mouse if moving around it Heatmap studio will collect data! Clicking stop will generate the heatmap for you.

Google Maps Heatmap Type

* Requirements:�
o �
+ An active internet connection (for connecting to a Google Maps page at www.slimapps.com)
+ A 2 or 3 column dataset with latitude and longitude instead of standard x,y coordinates

This heatmap type allows you to import latitude / longitude data and view a heatmap over a Google Maps interface. This feature is in its early stages so you may encounter some odd heatmap layouts, in these cases zooming in by one level should fix that. To use this feature load a data set, once loaded you can click the force redraw button on the toolbar or you can move the google map with your mouse. Each time you move the Google Maps the heatmap will regenerate.
