Homer Description

A free cross-platform video conferencing software

Homer is a free cross-platform video conferencing software. It supports an unlimited amount of simultaneous live video/audio chats. Movies as well as music files can be presented during a conference. The software supports low quality as well as high quality audio and video transmissions. Homer can also be used to remotely observe the activites on a desktop screen. For all these tasks the software doesn't need a server infrastructure but it supports SIP servers as well.

* Qt-based GUI with same look & feel independent from the underlaying system
* Compatible to SIP-based softphones/devices
* Playlists for playback/streaming of video/audio data
* Works without central SIP server but supports SIP servers as well
* Locally stored contact lists in XML format
* Drag+drop of files/text block to show or send them

Network

* IPv4 and IPv6 support
* Support UDP, TCP and UDP-Lite based video and audio transmission
* Configurable stream relay and preview to interoperate with other streaming tools
* Flexible port assignment for multiple participants behind a NAT box

Audio

* Streaming formats: MP3, G.711 a-law, G.711 µ-law, PCM16 and AMR
* Capture local audio inputs via ALSA, OSS or Windows-Multimedia-System (MMSYS)
* Playback/streaming of local audio files in the formats: AVI, MKA, MKV, MP3, WAV

Video

* Streaming formats: H.261, H.263, H.263+, H.264, MJPEG (without RTP) and MPEG4
* Capture local video inputs (max. 10) via V4L2 or Video-For-Windows (VFW)
* Playback/Streaming of local video files in the formats: AVI, ASF, DV, MKV, MOV, MPEG, MP4, MP4A, SWF, WMV
* Streaming of local desktop or only desktop segments
* Video resolutions from 128*96 to 1408*1152 pixels depending on the used video source supported
* Record of incoming video stream in the formats: AVI, ASF, DV, MOV, SWF, WMV
* Snapshots of incoming video streams in the formats: BMP, JPG, PGM, PNG, PPM, XBM, XPM
