InterScan VirusWall Description

Provides complete protection against all Internet-borne threats from the leader in gateway antivirus

It blocks against viruses, spyware, spam, phishing, botnets, and inappropriate content. It also provides URL filtering at the Internet gateway, before threats can impact your network. Maintaining a single web-based console makes it easy to manage and track automatic protection from multiple threats.

Active Directory support
The Trend Micro Domain Controller Agent offers transparent user identification for users in a Windows-based directory service. This information can be used to create URL filtering and blocking policies applied to specific users and groups.

An administrator can assign policies to HTTP, SMTP, & POP3 users, groups, and OUs. The level of service supported will be:
AD/LDAP directory

* Organizational Units – assign a rule
* Users – assign a rule
* Groups – assign a rule just to a group
o Users -
o Computers
* Computers – assign a rule



Web Threat Protection (WTP)
WTP leverages the existing URL Filtering Service Infrastructure to provide the reputation of the accessing URLs. Per the returned reputation score, product can determine to pass, block or trigger virus scan. In addition to the URL category and credibility, two new attributes are included in Web Reputation to help the product to decide scanning or not.

· Scanning Flag
Once the returned reputation score from the backend server is higher than the user defined sensitivity level and the scanning flag is off, product won’t need to scan the content within the URL.

The biggest problem WTP solves is the offloading the burden of scanning to the engine. This allows for a quicker response time for URL access and deny right.


Reports
Once of the most important aspects to any product is generating reports to for operational and auditing purposes to as justify costs of solutions deployed and related future budgets, evaluating security threats existing on the network, and identifying problematic users. IVSW has integrated reports to provide operational and auditing support.

Reports will include:

* Number and type of detected and blocked
o Report will be able to answer questions relating to what the malware type, when it happened, and where it came from.
* List of users with statistics on the number of security policy violations and types of violations
o This report will answer questions regarding who the users are, the types of violation, and the frequency of violations within a 6 month, 1month, and 1 week window
* "What websites did user A visit, or try to visit

This is useful for litigation purposes (like when a fired employee tries to tell the labor board they weren't surfing porn all day at work) and on a less-critical scale, for HR purposes. And, it may even help track down infected machines that might have a virus/spyware trying to connect out to certain websites, etc.
