Mini5 Description

Speed up your websites by compressing CSS and JavaScript

Minifying is the process of compacting CSS and JS files. This is achieved by as simply as removing all spaces and line breaks in CSS files and using complex packaging algorithms such as Dean Edward’s Packer to minimize the file size of JavaScript files. This results in significant reduction of payload size, and consequently, faster page loading.

Most available compressors are web-based or require many usage steps. So I decided to come up with my own utility. It all started with Jesse Hanson’s C# port of the fantastic Packer. I have implemented a slightly tweaked version of Hanson’s port in Mini5. As for CSS minification, I’ve used Mads Kristensen’s algorithm, which advertises a 5% improvement over industry standard Yahoo YUI Compressor.
