Manage printers & PDF's from within your FileMaker® Pro solution
PrinterSwitch is a FileMaker® Pro 10 (or 7/8/8.5/9) plug-in for Windows and Macintosh that allows you to easily control printer switching from within your FileMaker solutions. Moreover, PrinterSwitch also allows automatic PDF creation from within FileMaker without the need for a 3rd party PDF printer driver. The name and destination of the PDF can both be set from within your solution.
What's new in version 1.7 ?
New in PrinterSwitch 1.7:
• FileMaker 9 and 10 compatible.
• Added some examples to demonstrate how to implement PrinterSwitch in multi-user environments
• PrSw_Configure ("register") function can now be used with any multi-user version of PrinterSwitch
• [Windows] PDF driver is now Windows Vista compatible.
• [MacOS X] Fixed (hopefully for real this time) an obscure bug in the demo version where the demo splash screen would not always disappear.
Features
• switch printers on the fly from within your FileMaker application
• send dynamic FileMaker output to PDF, using the filename and location of your choice
• select any printer driver that is installed on your system
Benefits
• on MacOS X, does not require the use of AppleScript or Printer Setup Utility, and does not affect the status of your default printer
• on Windows, a PDF printer driver is part of our PrinterSwitch plug-in package, so the purchase of a separate driver is not needed (on MacOS X, this functionality is built into the OS)
• printer selection can easily be implemented in your application on a per user basis, or e.g. per department or office
• PDF functionality also works in FileMaker runtime solutions
System Requirements
• FileMaker Pro 10 (also supports 7, 8, 8.5 and 9)
• MacOS X 10.4 or higher (universal binary)
• Windows XP, Vista, Windows Server 2003
