Bringing your PowerPoint slides into life!

Although recording classroom presentations and tutorials for ordinary learners is not a new idea, little effort has been applied to provide simple solutions to prepare complementary video materials to deaf/hearing impaired students who tend to be visual learners and have difficulty in watching a teacher and take notes from a screen or blackboard simultaneously. RealShow automates the process of producing effective video materials for those learners and provides functions that combine popular PowerPoint slides, freehand drawings and illustrations, screen typing, and teacher’s video sign language translation in one single window. It allows teachers to create video presentations using several visual techniques, including facial expressions, natural gestures, and sign language which help convey messages. It provides the deaf/hearing impaired student with a clear and direct view of the teacher's lips and finger-spelling and provides teachers a flexible way to deliver accessible teaching materials via electronic media, mobile devices, and the Internet which can be used to bridge many gaps.

For normal classes and students, RealShow helps educators and presenters apply principles for the design of multimedia materials and human cognitive processing in delivering their PowerPoint slides. It takes advantage of the dual-channel structure of the human information processing system by means of text, pictures and audio. It promotes active cognitive processing by allowing the presenter to guide the processes of selecting, organizing, and integrating information. RealShow gives visual aids and fosters human contact between the presenter and the audience. The presenter can clearly identify the main points and communicate in a way that will have the desired impact on the audience through texts, illustrations, slides, and visual presence of the presenter.

Features:

1.Open and display real PowerPoint slides (no image or flash content) within the same RealShow window, and without the need to open MS PowerPoint application.
2. Use their already made MS PowerPoint 2000/03/07/10 presentations in PPT, PPTX, and PPS formats.
3. Extract slide note attached to each slide and display it in a small text box beside the slide for easy narration.
4. Navigate through slides the same as they move in PowerPoint full screen mode, or using the simple control panel (next, previous, first and last slide).
5. Display current slide number, title and total number of slides in the status bar.
6. Connect and display the attached default web cam directly.
7. Select and display unlimited number of web cam devices attached to the computer, with the possibility to change video format, video stand and device properties.
8. Display presenter's video in a full screen mode or within the slide window.
9. Display presentation title and presenter's name beside the presenter's video.
10. Illustrate and explain ideas using a simple text editor and whiteboard with useful tools for freehand typing and drawing.
11. Record presentations as a video file in various formats (AVI, WMV, FLV and SWF), with different recording settings.
12. Pause, resume and stop while recording.
13. Reduce background noise by Presenting only one source of visual information at a time.
14. Focus on vision as the visually impaired student's primary means of receiving information.
