Weblock Description

Enables safe access to Internet Resources

Weblock is a program that enables safe access to Internet Resources. It blocks access to certain websites in accordance with the settings established by the computer supervisor. The program also restricts access to selected functionalities (including: Instant Messengers, electronic mailing lists, downloading files from the Web, e-mails). Moreover, it allows for blocked contents to be defined, monitors web pages visited by the user and also makes it possible to delimit the acceptable period of network access.

The program monitors web pages that have been visited by the user and all related network actions, paying special attention to undesirable contents such as erotic websites. Weblock was originally created for the youngest Internet users, however, thanks to its highly developed configuration, companies and institutions can also use it as an active device for network access control.

Weblock blocks access to forbidden web pages, and it also restricts access to selected functions – such as:
• Instant Messengers, electronic mailing lists, online chats and others.
• E-mails.
• Downloading executable files and programs from the Web on the computer, advertisement pictures and animations.

Additional functions of the program are among others:

• delimitation of the acceptable period of network access
• permission for access to only a few selected websites
• individual blocking or unblocking of selected web pages
• creating private definitions of blocked content
• access to visited web page statistics

Example applications of Weblock:

Weblock can be used in many ways and in various cases. Here are some of them:

At home:
Weblock protects your children from entering web pages of improper content, for example, by using the option “Block Access to Erotic Websites” or “Block Access to Websites According to My Own Definition”. The possibility of downloading executable files and documents is also worth blocking. Another way is choosing certain web pages, adding them to the White List, and then activating the option “Only White List

Pages Allowed”.

At work:
Weblock helps control the way in which employees use the Internet. It is very common that, apart from carrying out the duties they are entrusted with, they use the Web for private correspondence or message viewing. The options of blocking e-mails and electronic mailing lists will be helpful. You can also choose which websites are allowed to be entered, thanks to the “Only the White List Pages Allowed” option, for example: *.gov

Safety:
by blocking the possibility of executable file downloading, you can protect yourself from accidental downloading and running of such a file. As a result, your computer will be safe from viruses or other programs that could take control of it, dialling costly international phone calls without your knowledge
